Happy July 1st ^_^ It's raining. Not just the drizzly everyday rain, but the torrential downpours. It's been doing this since Saturday afternoon. We thought we would get some relief Sunday morning when the sun came up. Nope. Even with the sun up, the downpoured >.< This morning, the sun didn't even try bothering.
Last week was the last of the art camp. I have the rest of the Summer off, kind of. I'll still be volunteering at the art center, but it's only for a few days of the week vs. every day. And, it won't be as many hours at a time. I'm going to miss the kids, though I will still see a few of them on and off for the rest of the Summer.
A year or two ago, my 8th grade English teacher required the entire class to do individual blogs. This blog is a continuance of that assignment.

Summer fun ^_^
It's been raining on and off all week. I was caught outside a couple of times by the rain. The worse was Sunday afternoon while I was attempting to mow the lawn. I just finished the front when it started pouring. I was able to do a little bit more before I gave up. The mower was choking on the wet grass and stalling every couple of meters. I was soaked to the skin and then some. It was as though I had jumped in a pond then went straight in the house. And, being Summer, the a/c (air conditioner) was on and I almost froze to death o.o
Volunteering at Art Camp is fun. A lot of the kids are there just to have fun. They're the ones you have to watch to keep out of mischief. A few kids are there to learn and improve. Don't get me wrong, almost all the kids want to learn cool art stuff. But these few are serious. And these few have attached themselves to me ^_^
I've grown jaded with regards to my tech toys. I used to have my Android phone loaded to the hilt with apps and I was almost on it 24/7. Now, I'm down to the basics on apps and use it mostly for txting with my friends and such. I do have a few utility apps, but nothing like before. The same thing with my iPad. I don't have as much on it anymore nor do I use it as much. I do go in cycles though. So maybe in the future I will rediscover my tech toys.
Yvonne's birthday was Friday. It was awesome ^_^ Happy Birthday again! Love you lots <3 ^_^ Anyway, she can get her restricted license in about six months around the same time that I do. Kyle got his while I was in the Everglades. Soon all of us will be driving and that's kind of sad since it means there's no reason for us to hang together as a pack. o.o

Volunteering
I volunteered to help out with the kids at the art center today. One of the other volunteers wasn't going to be there; so they called me. I utterly love helping out with kids and jumped at the request ^_^ It's only from 9am to noon, but I always have fun. I love being around kids more than adults. Kids are so spontaneous ^_^ Anyway, I need to take the dogs running once the sun comes up and then get ready to head over to the center ^_^

Painted me
I kind of got carried away in Painting today ^_^ I have no problem with using my fingers to manipulate paint on the canvas. Every time I do it and my Professor notices me and comments about it. Paint is toxic. The colors come from poisonous ingredients. It's very unlikely you'll die if you accidentally get some in your mouth and such. But, over time and with continual exposure, the toxins will build up and you can possibly get cancer or worse later on in life. Knowing that, I still do it out of habit and such. Anyway, today, I kind of forgot that I was "finger painting" again. By the end of class, I had paint in my hair and on my face and clothes and satchel and almost everywhere >.< Apparently, I still missed some after cleaning up because Lee found it LOL ^_^

Artist
I'm in one of my artistic moods today. I'm working on several sketches and paintings that have nothing to do with school. I'm not sure where I want these creations to go; I'm just letting them run free. I've read that some authors start out with an idea for a story and just start writing, letting the story unfold in front of their own eyes. Today, that is what I'm doing with my artistic creations today: a simple idea, thought, turned loose on a blank page ^_^

Volunteering and volunteered
Today the art center did a showing of the kids' art projects. That means the kids were there and that means I volunteered to be there too ^_^ The formal showing was like two hours long with kids and their parents popping in and out all throughout that time ^_^ It was a blast ^_^ And it was weird coming away from the show with no paint or clay or chalk on me ^_^
The red tide was way bad tonight. So the drum circle cancelled for this weekend. Maybe next Saturday. Instead, I spent the evening with Lee at his house. I got volunteered to help mop the kitchen floor when Hannah spilt a pitcher of water. That was probably the first time that I realized that they saw me as part of their family. Most people would have a problem asking a guest to clean up, no less, telling them to.
