A year or two ago, my 8th grade English teacher required the entire class to do individual blogs. This blog is a continuance of that assignment.

The deed is done!
The finals for my college work are done and my honours projects turned in. I feel that I've done extremely good on them ^_^ Another month of HS, and I'll be done with the school year, just in time to start Calculus III. LOL ^_^ That's only a six week, morning course. I've decided that I am going to force my HS graduation early. So, yeah, YaY Me! ^_^

Spring Finals
I have finals in my college classes this week. My first final will be in Calculus II later today. My next two will be all day tomorrow: Biology and Humanities II. On Wednesday, I'll be taking my Creative Writing final. My two art classes, Figure Drawing and Drawing II, have final projects due this week, but we have until Friday to turn them in. This week looks to be a breeze ^_^
I've enrolled in Calculus III for the first summer semester. It's an early morning class, five days a week. But it's the last of the series and I want to finish it. That way, I have an additional slot available next Fall. I'm also thinking of taking my GED so that I can enroll full time as a college student. The only HS class that I took this year was Programming and the only reason I took it was because I have to have a HS home room. All my friends and family are encouraging me to go the fast path. And in all honesty, I will. I just like to keep my options open ^_^

Ding Dong!
Finals are over! Well, at least my college finals are done. I have a midterm next week in my high school class. After that, we have a two week winter break. Mom, Granddad, and I are going to visit my Grand Uncle in the ALF and my Aunts and Cousin on the way back. I haven't heard anything about Christmas from my Dad yet. He's been very busy of late. I'm hoping he will be here at a couple of days o.o I want to drive him around ^_^ I miss him so much.
Last night was Pizza and a Movie night. Lee's here of course, snoring, along with Kyle, Hannah, and Yvonne. These nights have become rarer than when we first started. Everyone's life is diverging. Separate life paths. Alice's has gone almost completely. We still talk and such, but we haven't hung out in like forever. That's kind of understandable. We never really had much in common. I think our bond was the familiarness of each other. Once we started finding people that had more in common with ourselves, that bond started dissolving. Life moves on.

New class
Okay. I dropped my Physics course and grabbed another art course: 2D Design. I missed the first week, but there wasn't very much going on and I was able to catch up quickly. Probably because of artistic background ^_^ It's a cool class, not as cool as Physics, but still cool ^_^
Over the weekend, I got a new tennis racket and a couple of cans of balls for Tennis. Today we get to actually do the physical stuff ^_^ I just hope it doesn't rain o.o

!!!! Screams !!!!
I found out today that I got into Physics even though I didn't meet the pre-reqs for the course. This means that I need to drop Physics and find a different course >.< This is so messed up. Why couldn't they make an exception? Why did the computer allow me to register for it in the first place? This sucks donkey! >.<
Now, I need to find a replacement course that still has seats available in the same time slot. GRRRR!!!!!

Tennis anyone?
It's been awhile since I've had a PE class. I'm really not into competitive sports and basically that's all that the schools offer. But, to graduate, I need PE. So, I lucked out and found the college offers Tennis and that counts for PE. Well, half a year of PE. I'll need to take another semester of something to get a full year's credit. Anyway, this is a course, not the sport. Almost everyone in the class is taking it to learn to play tennis. In addition, we're learning about the history of the sport. There is a midterm and final in the class, both written and skill based. There is a textbook too. It goes over the history, rules, equipment, and basics.
This week's classes will be in the classroom. Today was the typical intro to the class, how we'll be graded, what is expected, handing out of the syllabus, equipment we need, etc. Thursday's class will be the basic rules of the sport and of the class. Then, next Tuesday, we'll meet at the tennis courts. Everyone is to bring an unopened can of tennis balls that go into the pool. The idea is to help replace all the tennis balls that get lost when we're first learning. And I swear that he was looking at me when he said that >.< LOL We are also responsible for our own rackets, none will be provided. Though he does have a couple on hand in case we forget ours.
All in all, this is going to be an awesome class ^_^

First day over
Lee picked me up this morning. It looks like he'll be my ride in the mornings this year ^_^ He's driven me around all summer, but something about him picking me up this morning just sent my heart go pitter-patter and stirred up the butterflies in my tummy <3
Homeroom: Programming in C++ This is going to be another awesome class. I only wish that it was college level. Yvonne is the only friend of mine that is in homeroom with me. Lee has Music, Kyle and Alice are in English.
My college courses for today were: American Literature, Animation I, and Calculus I. Tomorrow's courses will be: Physics, Drawing I, and Tennis I. As you can see, I'm still wishy-washy on my true major. I'll have to formally declare one very soon. But for now, I can grab as many interesting courses as possible ^_^

First day of classes
It's here! It's finally here. The first day of classes for a new year. I'm officially in 11th grade. This looks to be another awesome year ^_^ They've all been awesome, but this looks even more awesome LOL ^_^

One week left...
School starts next Monday. I'm hyped for a new year, new things to learn, new people to meet, well, new everything! ^_^ It'll be my 11th year and my guidance counsellor suggested that I can graduate high school at the end of this year if everything goes right ^_^ She said for all intents and purposes, I'm actually in college now, just doing the high school thing to meet the law and such.
Anyway, the sun is shining! The beach is calling! Actually, it was Yvonne calling a few minutes ago suggesting another beach day LOL ^_^ She wants to get a little more tanning in before we head back to school. On a side note, it seems that my freckles have been disappearing over the past few summers. Weird huh? I didn't think that was even possible. I still have freckles but their not as intense as they once were.

Saturday
I'll be going to the farmer's market in a little bit with mom. Then we'll head over to the beach for the rest of the morning ^_^
My classes are set for this year. Yesterday was when I had to pay for them. So, unless they get cancelled, or I need to drop some, I'm all set. Yesterday was also the day that I opened my first checking and savings account. I now have checks and a check card ^_^ Before, all that I had was a refillable money card from Walmart. Mom would pay me my allowance by adding it to my money card. That cost money. So now, I have a real card and a real account that I can put the money into ^_^
Oh, and this is my 700th post ^_^

Arf! Arf!
The dog days of Summer are here. It's going to get hotter as the month goes on. Add the daily rain, and you've got a sauna, everyday for the rest of the month. I don't know why it's called the Dog Days. My dogs don't like it. It's way too hot and humid for them. I haven't been taking them running with me lately because I don't want to risk them getting sick. But, I do take them for exploration walks though ^_^ They're happy ^_^
School starts in a couple of weeks, both high school and college. Our state does a "no sales tax" weekend for school supplies and clothes. That ended yesterday. Needless to say, I'm well stocked in jeans, tops, undies (some smexy ^_^), sandals, running shoes, etc. I don't really need much in school supplies, with almost everything being done electronically. But do get some nonetheless along with tons of art supplies ^_^

Time is running out
I need to truly decide on what I want to do with my life with regards to education and a career. Lately, I've been losing interest in Mars. I doubt that I'll be the first person to set foot as there are already tons of people well ahead of me. I love art and music and science and kids and exploring and Lee (^_^) Programming is fun. It's like a puzzle game but with words. But I can't see myself trapped behind a desk in an office. That's not me at all. An artist's life is hand-to-mouth my mom says. You often get just enough to survive the next day. Even though mom's an artist, she does do more than just art. Lee's chosen the music path for himself. While I'd love to be in that part of his future too, I can't see myself doing the "office" thing: he's going to be a composer. I love science and all the tech, but that's also an "office" thing. Unless, it's a field researcher. But that'll have its downside too. Lee's career won't involve much travel. And field researchers often spend years in the field o.o
Maybe I'm still young enough that the thought of being in an office sounds horrible. Maybe when I'm older, I will actually seek out that office and desk and comfy chair and monotony. But for now, I need to think about the next five to ten years and where I will be during that time.
So why am I concerned at this moment? It's because school will start up in under a couple months and I need to really start thinking about my future in college. Yes, I'm still doing the dual enrollment thingy.

Finally
Finally, my final final is done and over. ^_^ Now, playtime ^_^ I'll probably be getting hyped up for tomorrow night and Sunday. Tomorrow night is the Spring dance and Sunday is my birthday, my "Sweet Sixteen" birthday ^_^ I wonder what makes turning sixteen so special? Maybe something to do with some obscure, forgotten thing regarding marriage and stuff. Maybe I'll look it up. And maybe I won't :P

Almost there
Today's final is now over. Just one more tomorrow and I'm done with the college courses for this semester. I still have my HS History final in a few weeks. But, that's in a few weeks ^_^ Tonight is going to be a chill out night with Lee <3 ^_^

Bad Emily
I apologize for my lack of updates here. It's Finals week and I've been busy. Normally, I would leave the apology at that. But, it's worse because I have a huge queue of updates that I could have published the moment I finished writing them. But no, I left them queued up and forgot to hit the publish button. Bad Emily >.<
Anyway, today's final was in Trigonometry. I easily aced it ^_^ Mathematics can be so fun ^_^

Another down
Another final down: Descriptive Astronomy. Only three more finals left and a final painting project in Painting I.
On a disappointing note, dance class was cancelled tonight o.o Our instructor was out of town for family problems. She's been having a run of bad luck lately. I hope things improve though.

One final down
Today was the final for English II. Pure essay questions ^_^ I love those types of tests. As long as you're comfortable with writing, it's almost impossible to go wrong with essay tests. The professor is looking for your understanding of the topic (and proper grammar and spelling). A lot of times for me, it's easier to show my understanding this way than by check boxes and multiple guesses.

Done!
Midterms are complete ^_^ Midterms seems to be a weird thing to call them since we're three quarters of the way through the year. But, that's a high school year. In college, I'm actually half way through the Spring semester. Thus, midterms. Next Friday, not tomorrow, we get the day off. That's when the teachers and professors workout the grades and formally turn them in. In college you don't get "report cards" until the end of semester. If you want to know how you're doing so far, you need to ask your professor. But usually that's not needed because they spell out how they grade in the course syllabus. So, if you have all your scores, you can figure it out yourself.

Posting from class
I'm in my Painting I class posting this. My professor is rearranging the pile of still life in the middle of the studio. It's time for a change she said. I agree. I found tons of stuff to paint, way too much stuff to paint. Maybe this time around there will be less to chose from. I usually try to explore all possible choices and even some no one has thought about. Okay, time to go ^_^

First impressions
Okay, I've officially been to all of my new courses at least once this semester and they all look uber cool ^_^
What's really cool is that Painting I is my last class of the day and we can stay in the classroom for a couple of more hours if we want too to work on our paintings ^_^ It's an acrylic based class (we were given a set of acrylics today ^_^ ) emphasizing the basics of color mixing, composition, etc. We also have "out of class" paintings that need to be done. Kind of like homework, but if we want to, we can work on them after class. It's very likely that I won't do that because I'd have to carry around wet paintings.
Trigonometry is starting out slow. We're reviewing basic math concepts like graphing, functions, set theory, etc. But it'll only be for the first week or two. Then we'll get in to the real meaty stuff ^_^
English II is more or less an introduction to literature. Lots of reading and writing. My cup of tea ^_^
I messed up on my description of Intercultural Humanities I. I said it covers up to the Renascence in my previous post. It doesn't. It covers up to classical civilizations: Greek, India, Rome, China, Persia. I would have loved to learn about the Renascence this semester but I'm happy with what I'll be learning for now ^_^
Programming Concepts is about object oriented programming. I've done PHP for middle school and for a few of my mom's clients but never from the object oriented end. Most high level languages are object oriented. Even PHP has an OO aspect to it. This is going to be cool ^_^
Descriptive Astronomy is about the fundamentals of astronomy. We get to learn about timekeeping, how the stars, planets, galaxies, etc., move and interact, about the various instrumentation used in astronomy, and about evolution of planets, stars, galaxies. Most of the class is textbook based, but we will get to work hands on with telescopes ^_^ Even if we didn't, I'd still play around with the one my dad gave me for Christmas (thanks again dad <3) ^_^
